Hiiiii everyone! :) The week is almost over once again and I couldn't be more psyched because that's when I get to do a bunch of stuff that isn't work-related.
Anyway, I'm pretty much done with blogging about our trip to Bali, although it might come up again next time as a throwback post, so stay tuned.
This post is about our trip to Hong Kong about a month ago, right after my birthday. Carlos and I needed a breather from Macau and pretty much everything that reminded us of our responsibilities, so we decided to go somewhere we've never been to in HK since it's only an hour away by ferry. Et voila, we made it to Lantau Island.
We were both really excited because it's been a while since we went somewhere for the first time and I usually get really giddy like a little girl who can't wait another second to explore Disneyland (whenever I go somewhere new)!
We got to ride on the Ngong Ping cable car which is said to be the longest bi-cable ropeway in Asia. How awesome is that? The view was spectacular as well, even though it wasn't sunny on that day, but I couldn't complain as I was too excited. There were three cabins we could choose from: Standard Cabin, Crystal Cabin or Private Cabin. We went for the Crystal Cabin which was equipped with a glass bottom, something the standard one didn't offer and was way cheaper than the private one. We were able to enjoy the view from the cable car and look below from a bird's eyeview. Our roundtrip tickets cost HK$255 each which isn't really expensive, but I would suggest you to book your tickets in advance because the time we spent queuing up was so much longer than the time we were in the cable car. It was worth the wait, though. And I highly recommend everyone to go and see this place if ever you're in town. It really has got a lot to offer! Fresh air would be one of them. :)
The main highlight of this trip was seeing the Tian Tan Buddha and trust me when I say climbing up that flight of stairs was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my life. Okay, it wasn't really that hard, but was definitely a challenge all because it was way up high and even though, I'm used to walking (on flat grounds that is), I felt my energy drain just like that even though we had just filled up our empty stomachs not too long ago after this was taken. BTW, we just had to take a photo with the hashtag #followmeto as part of us thought it'd look good and the other part of us wanted to portray determination despite that fleet of stairs.
Tadaaaaa!! The moment we reached the top, I wanted to scream "WE MADE IT", but then again so did a lot of other people. However, I really did feel like we've accomplished something here so it felt great.
The view was simply stunning from up there and it's not everyday we get to be surrounded by nature.
Okay, so here's something you should know. Before we actually reached the top, Carlos had to drag me (literally) and I was putting most of my weight on him (unintentionally of course) as I was out of breath, so a big thanks to the boyfriend for "WE MADE IT"!
This is the Path of Wisdom which I first saw in a Korean show called Running Man, but we didn't get the chance to go up there anymore since we were too exhausted from walking up to see the Tian Tan Buddha.
What's on me: Dress, Blazer & Hat: F21 | Bag: Coach | Shoes: Bershka |
On another note, this was what I wore which was a pretty bad idea considering the fact that those shoes were not made for walking and it can be really windy up there, so you can guess how many times I've had to hold my hat to keep it from being blown away.
It was one heck of an adventure and I'm really glad we went there because places are meant to be explored. And since we're not travelling anytime soon, we thought why not find new places nearby instead of dreaming to be somewhere we can't go to at all this year? I really do hope you like my photos, even though most of them were taken using my phone (which is why the quality isn't so good). It was an amazing experience and a wonderful post-birthday celebration because I got to spend it with the person I love.
I hope you guys have a lovely weekend!! Are you guys constantly looking for an adventure as well? Do tell.
